Dr. Scharf earned his undergraduate and Medical degrees at The State University of New York at Buffalo, and completed residency training in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Rochester. Professional interests include education, psychosomatic medicine, consultation to primary care, violence prevention, and intervention for victims of violence. Dr. Scharf is a founding member of the Rochester Youth Violence Partnership: a University Hospital based program partnering with community agencies to examine and improve how our health care system and community responds to children and adolescents who are victims of violent assault. Dr. Scharf is the local (University of Rochester) site leader for CAP-PC (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Primary Care): a New York State Office of Mental Health funded program to provide education and clinical consultation to primary care doctors as they care for the mental health needs of children.
