Dr. Sanders earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, completed his orthopaedics residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center, and a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics and scoliosis at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on treatment of pediatric orthopaedic problems. Dr. Sanders is considered a national leader in pediatric orthopaedics and has won national awards for his research and treatment methods. He is a Professor of Orthopaedics and the Chief of URMC Pediatric Orthopaedics. His research interests include spinal deformity, the relationship of growth to musculoskeletal disorders, and understanding human gait. Dr. Sanders is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Scoliosis Research Society, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine.
