David A. DiLoreto, Jr., M.D., PhD., is a retinal specialist. He was fellowship trained in medical and surgical retina at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, serving in both the Retinal Vasculature Center and the Vitreo-Retinal Service. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. DiLoreto's has a keen interest in clinical research, providing patients with access to the latest therapies. He is currently an investigator the AREDS2 trial to test if using supplements slow or prevent age related eye disease. Dr. DiLoreto is extensively involved in retina research. National Clinical Trials include VEGF trap treatment for age related macular degeneration and Age related eye disease study 2. Retina research trials also include Adaptive Optics Imaging of Inherited Macular Diseases. He has received numerous awards, most recently the Knapp Fellowship from the Herman Knapp Testimonial Fund, the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation Award, and the Heed Fellowship from the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His research has been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
