John F. Centonze, M.D. earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo while on a Uniformed Services Health Professions Scholarship. Graduating cum laude, he was additionally awarded the Norman A. Haber Award presented to the student with exceptional skills in the field of otolaryngology. He completed his internship in general surgery at the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia, and his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Centonze served in the United States Navy for 10 years, receiving both the Navy Achievement and Navy Commendation Medals and numerous decorations for meritorious service. Before moving to the Finger Lakes, his most recent military position was as the Chief of Otolaryngology at Naval Hospital, Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Centonze is Board Certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the AMA and medical Society of the State of New York. Dr. Centonze is currently Chairman of the Medical Records Committee at F.F. Thompson Hospital. He has served as past president of the Medical staff at FF Thompson Hospital, current vice president of the Medical Staff, and past chief of surgery at Newark Community Hospital. Dr. Centonze practices all aspects of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery with a special interest in sinus surgery, voice disorders, and facial cosmetic surgery.
