I am an academic general internist with a focus in the care of hospitalized patients. I developed and direct the busy Hospital Medicine Division, which now employs 25 faculty members (hospitalists) who make over 33,000 inpatient visits per year at Strong Memorial Hospital. I am clinically most active as a hospitalist, but I also have a small primary care outpatient practice within the General Medicine Division's Faculty-Resident Practice. This gives me a unique perspective on the importance of good communication and transition between the inpatient and outpatient settings. I serve on a number of hospital and departmental committees where my aim is to promote the highest quality, most compassionate, and most efficient care possible at the University of Rochester Medical Center. I was recently recognized as a Fellow in Hospital Medicine by the national hospitalist organization (Society of Hospital Medicine).
