Born in Buffalo, NY, Robert L. Smith, MD graduated from Rochester's East high School in 1987. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Health and Sports Science with a minor in Biology at wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC in 1991. He returned to graduate school in 1993 and completed his Master's Degree in Clinical Chemistry at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1996. Dr. Smith earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2000 and remained in Syracuse for residency while attending the St. Joseph's Hospital Family Medicine Residency. His first position was at Shortsville Family Practice during a short stay before founding Finger Lakes Family Care in February of 2006. Starting his practice from scratch as a solo provider in a 1,000 square foot office, Dr. Smith has steadily grown his practice into a cutting edge practice in Canandaigua, NY. Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the New York State Academy of Family Physicians, and the Canandaigua Medical Society.
