Dr. Miri Arie has been helping children to improve social skills since 1999, when she worked as an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapist for home based interventions for children with Autism Spectrum disorder. Since then, she practiced as a clinical psychology intern at Schneider Children's Medical Center, where she acquired a broad range of experience with different intervention methods such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management training, Play-Therapy, and specific experience with wide range of curriculums teaching social skills to children.Dr. Arie completed a PhD program in clinical child psychology from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. In her research dissertation she studied the physiological as well as the behavioral characteristics of children with Selective-Mutism. As part of her research she developed a Cognitive-Behavioral intervention tailored for the needs of elementary school age children with Selective Mutism.In 2006, Dr. Arie moved to the US, where she completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at the Articulab, Center for Technology and Social Behavior, at Northwestern University. Her research focused on developing a social skills assessment for children with Autism Spectrum disorders using technologically mediated devices.In 2008, Dr. Arie joined the Pediatric Consultation Center as a post-doc clinical fellow. Dr. Arie's interests are understanding the development of social skills in children and the psychopathologies related to social skill deficits. Her previous research and clinical experience includes: Autism Spectrum Disorder (with special expertise with high-functioning autism, Asperger's disorder), Selective-Mutism, Nonverbal learning Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety disorders, and defiant behaviors. Dr. Arie is fluent in English and Hebrew.
