A native of Rochester, Dr. Wheeler received her medical degree from the State University of New York Medical University in Syracuse, NY. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas. Most recently, Dr. Wheeler was deployed to Afghanistan and served as a lead physician in the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Light Infantry in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She received a prestigious Bronze Star Award as a result of her outstanding efforts. Dr. Wheeler believes in the importance of listening to her patients' concerns and questions about their health care plan and ensuring they are addressed. She takes the time to understand her patients' family dynamics and believes in teaching her patients based on how they learn best.
