Tom Adler was born and raised in Southern California. He attended College at UC Davis and graduated with honors in Zoology. After a year of graduate study in Pharmacology, he attended UC Irvine California College of Medicine and, in 1977, went on to Internship and Residency in Mediicine at LA County-USC Medical Center. He elected to specialize in Allergy and took his fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. he worked with Dr Gildon Beall on thyroid autoimmunity and with Dr. Doug Heiner on IgG4 immune responses in grass pollen sensitive asthmatics. After 7 years of Private Allergy Practice in Medford Oregon, Tom met Dr Ann Spataro, of Rochester NY at a medical conference, and upon their marriage, Tom elected to move to Rochester where he has practiced Allergy and Internal Medicine since 1989. He and Ann have two grown daughters. They enjoy cycling, skiing, hiking and Tom is active in the Genesee Valley Nordic Ski Patrol. In addition to giving many talks to physicians and the public on Allergies and Asthma, Tom has authored several scientific articles on subjects ranging from drug allergies, to grass pollen induced asthma, to anaphylaxis. He is Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology as well as Internal Medicine. He is a Clinical Instructor in Medicine at the University of Rochester, and has served on the Allergy Advisory Committee of Rochester Independent Practice Association and on the Finger Lakes Allergy Society. He is on the Medical Staff of 3 local hospitals - RGH, Park Ridge, and Lakeside. He joined Dr Scott Valet in 1996 and now confines his practice to Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology.
