New York State Partnership for Long-Term Care (Long-Term Care Insurance)

The New York State Partnership for Long-Term Care is a unique program combining long-term care insurance and Medicaid Extended Coverage. Its purpose is to help New Yorkers financially prepare for the possibility of needing nursing home care, home care or assisted living services someday. The program allows New Yorkers to protect some or all of their assets (resources), depending on the insurance plan purchased, if their long-term care needs extend beyond the period covered by their private insurance policy. If you buy New York State Partnership for Long-Term Care insurance from participating insurers, use the benefits according to the conditions of the program, and you are a New York State resident, you can apply for New York State Medicaid Extended Coverage which may assist in paying for your ongoing care. Unlike regular Medicaid, Medicaid Extended Coverage allows you to protect some or all of your assets, depending on whether you select a Dollar for Dollar Asset Protection plan or a Total Asset Protection plan. However, your income is countable in determining your eligibility for Medicaid Extended Coverage.

New York State: Child Health Plus

New York State has a health insurance plan for kids, called Child Health Plus. Depending on your family's income, your child may be eligible to join either Children's Medicaid or Child Health Plus . Both Children's Medicaid and Child Health Plus are available through dozens of providers throughout the state. To be eligible for either Children's Medicaid or Child Health Plus, children must be under the age of 19 and be residents of New York State. Whether a child qualifies for Children's Medicaid or Child Health Plus depends on gross family income. Children who are not eligible for Medicaid can enroll in Child Health Plus if they don't already have health insurance and are not eligible for coverage under the public employees' state health benefits plan. New York State: Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) Program

EPIC is a New York State program that helps seniors pay for their prescription drugs. More than a quarter million EPIC enrollees are saving an average of 90 percent of the cost of their medicines. Most enrollees have Medicare Part D or other drug coverage, and use EPIC to lower their drug costs even more by helping them pay the deductibles and co-paymentsrequired by their other drug plan. New York State: Family Health Plus

Family Health Plus is a public health insurance program for adults who are aged 19 to 64 who have income or resources too high to qualify for Medicaid. Family Health Plus is available to single adults, couples without children, and parents with limited income who are residents of New York State and are United States citizens or fall under one of many immigration categories. Family Health Plus provides comprehensive coverage, including prevention, primary care, hospitalization, prescriptions and other services. There are minimal co-payments for some Family Health Plus services. Health care is provided through participating managed care plans in your area. There is no cost to apply for Family Health Plus and there are no deductibles once you are enrolled. Once enrolled you may be asked to pay part of the costs of some medical care/services. This is called a co-payment or co-pay. If your family's income or resources exceed qualifying levels, you are not eligible to enroll. However, you may be eligible for Healthy NY, another New York State health coverage option.

New York State: Health Insurance Information, Counseling and Assistance (HIICAP)

HIICAP, Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program, is the New York State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). It receives federal funds from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to operate a statewide network of local programs. HIICAP educates the public about Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, EPIC, and other health insurance options and issues. HIICAP assists Medicare beneficiaries to access needed health care and to apply for programs such as the Medicare Savings Programs

New York State: Healthy New York

The Health Care Reform Act of 2000 introduced a program entitled "Healthy NY" which promotes access to quality health care by providing comprehensive health insurance to those citizens who need it most. The Healthy NY program is designed to assist small business owners in providing their employees and their employees’ families with the health insurance they need and deserve. In addition, uninsured sole proprietors and workers whose employers do not provide health insurance may also purchase comprehensive coverage directly through the Healthy NY program.

New York State: Medicaid Insurance Program

Medicaid is a program for New Yorkers who can't afford to pay for medical care. You can apply for Medicaid in any one of the following ways: Write, phone, or go to your local department of social services. Pregnant women and children can apply at many clinics, hospitals, and Prenatal Care Assistance Program (PCAP) offices. Call your local department of social services to find out where you can apply. If you are in a facility operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health, contact the patient resource office. If you are in a facility certified by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, contact the revenue and reimbursement office.
