Home like setting for the terminally ill. All services at the House of John are free and there is no expectation of donations or contributions by residents or family members. Admission is not determined by religion, age, or ethnic background. If the potential resident is appropriate for the House and a bed is available, a bed will be offered, and arrangements can be made to move the resident to the House, usually within a few days. There is often a waiting list, but beds are offered to those with the most immediate or significant need. Please note the general admission criteria below: diagnosis of terminal illness with no expectation of recovery, a doctor’s prognosis of three months or less life expectancy, private physician coverage, and no extraordinary care needs, such as IV’s or feeding tubes.
