Location Comments: Specialty Care: Pediatric & Young Adult: Since our opening more than sixty years ago, Monroe Community Hospital has been providing quality long-term care for children and young adults. We are the only long-term care program in the region specializing in pediatric care for children with congenital defects, chronic illnesses, or head or spinal cord trauma. Our 28-bed pediatric unit is comprised of 12 pediatric beds and sixteen young adult beds, and we can accept children four weeks old through young adults. The nursing unit promotes a fully accessible and homelike living environment which provides for the children's total physical, social, and psychological needs. We provide an on-site classroom, individualized educational planning, and both indoor and outdoor activity areas, including a new, fully-accessible pediatric playground. Alzheimer's & Dementia Care: Monroe Community Hospital provides a special program for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Residents with these disorders are cared for by our dedicated and compassionate staff in a safe and understanding environment. The resident rooms and living areas have recently been renovated and feature a fully accessible area where residents can enjoy a bright and cheerful sun room or stroll through the adjoining garden courtyard.
