H1N1 "When to Call Your Doctor" video PSA

10/25/2009
Monroe County Health Department Issues Online/Video PSA to Help Public Sort through Symptoms As novel H1N1 influenza (also called swine flu) spreads throughout the nation, Monroe County's Director of Public Health Andrew Doniger, M.D., MPH, is offering guidance for people who are exhibiting flu-like illness this fall.

In an online public service announcement that will soon be posted to the county's Public Health homepage-and likely carried by various community hospitals and medical centers, insurers, and local health information websites-Doniger offers people advice as to when they should seek medical care for themselves or their children.

"We're asking for everyone's help to make sure that our community's emergency department resources remain available for people who truly need them," Doniger said. "In addition to caring for people with severe novel H1N1 flu, local hospitals still have to manage their regular patient caseload."
