Rochester-Monroe County's 9-1-1 Center: Flu Information Hotline

The Rochester-Monroe County’s 9-1-1 center has implemented an automated informational hotline for local flu information. A recording with multiple messages provides useful information pertaining to the symptoms of flu, what steps people should take if sick with the flu, and locations of 24-hour pharmacies. The number is 585-500-H1N1 (4161) and is also available in Spanish.


County Health Departments: Flu Information & Clinics

Many of the local county public health departments offer flu information and clinics. Residents of these counties should regularly check with their county health department for flu updates specific to their county.

Second Opinion: H1N1 Special Edition

This program provides viewers with a better understanding of the H1N1 virus, and connects them with resources to protect themselves. As concerns about the H1N1 virus escalate across the country, WXXI’s national healthcare series, Second Opinion, presents an hour-long special designed to educate viewers on the pandemic strain of flu. Second Opinion: H1N1 Special Edition airs Sunday, November 22 at 7 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable1011/cable11). This special edition features a panel of national experts along with a studio audience that had the chance to ask questions about H1N1 and seasonal flu. The panel also answered viewer questions supplied by other PBS stations.

Locates flu vaccination locations by zip code or by city, state. The information will be returned on a map on the Google website. Rochester Health urges all individuals to confirm clinic locations, hours, eligibility and availability.†
